Beautiful tamil christian brideAll brides want to look their best on the big day, below are a few simple beauty tips that I share with my brides to not only look amazing but feel serene amidst all the wedding buzz. Let me know what you think in the comments section and also share any tips that you may have and I will add it to the post :)
Inside out beauty
Weddings can be a very stressful time; there’s no hiding from that. Ensure you keep organised, delegate tasks and enjoy every part of planning your beautiful day. STRESS can be a major cause of breakouts. Book yourself in for a massage. Visit the spa with a friend. Book in date nights with your other half at least once every other week. Look beyond the wedding, and start planning your marriage.
Drink, eat & exercise
You’ve heard it before and you’re going to hear it again; WATER, WATER, WATER! It really is miracle working stuff. It not only clears your skin but has been proven to reduce tiredness. So try starting your day with two tall glasses of water infused with fresh lemon juice. Try also mixing up your own fruit and vegetable juices to bring a glow to your skin. Have a balanced diet and cut out unnecessary sugary snacking. Instead opt for a bowl of berries, a handful of almonds and for all you chocolate lovers – a small piece of 70% dark chocolate every day is actually good for your blood. Combing all of this with some exercise will not only help you get in great shape but will also release toxins, giving you great looking skin.
Skin surface beauty
It is easy to cover acne scars, and discolouration with all sorts of cosmetic products, but the key to beautiful looking makeup is a well looked after raw base. If you do not have a skin care routine yet, I would recommend starting one ASAP. You may have no concerns right now but it is the only way to protect your skin from damage and ageing. So why not dip into your kitchen to find some proven home remedies?

  • Cleanser – Mix ½ cup chickpea powder and 1 tsp turmeric with milk. Apply on face and neck for 2 minutes and then wash with warm water.
  • Toner – Rub ice cubes all over face and neck. This will tighten the pores and increase blood
  • ·circulation; a popular technique in Bollywood.
  • Face Pack – Blend ½ avocado, 3 tbs yoghurt, 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp lemon juice. Keep mixture in fridge for 1 hour, then massage into face and neck, washing off with warm water.

Bedsheets & towels
Change bed sheets and pillow cases every other week. Change the towel you use on your face every day or alternatively use tissues. Wash your makeup off before you go to sleep using a cleansing oil, balm or a face wash.
The type of makeup used for your big day will often be chosen according to your skin type. Important, is ensuring the foundation matches your skin tone and blends into your skin. A lighter or darker foundation will immediately show up in photos. Try to book a daytime trial for your makeup as this is the best light to see your makeup under. Take some photos, and see what the makeup looks like on camera. On the big day, invest in a blotting powder and the lipstick you will be wearing so that you can blot any oil and touch up your lips.
Luscious locks
Regular haircuts help avoid damage to hair. Use heat protective sprays when using hot tools. Use a good hair mask once a week to nourish your hair and bring that vibrancy back to it. Try oiling your hair once a week. Heat the oil in the microwave and massage it into your scalp. Run a towel under hot water – squeeze excess water and wrap your hair in it. Do this 3 times and then wash with shampoo and conditioner.

Most of all, remember to enjoy your special day!
